Dedicated to the whole development of the young child.

Wellesley Cooperative Nursery School strives to help each child enhance his and her sense of curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. For children, play is their work. Daily activities provide opportunities for genuine intellectual growth, advancement of motor skills, creative expression, and social and emotional growth.

The large interior space in our preschool provides children opportunities to gather in groups of varying size, suiting a wide range of learning activities. The play yard is also a large space, and even in winter the children enjoy outside playtime and vigorous physical activity.

Located in a picturesque and historic brown barn near the Charles River Falls in South Natick, the Wellesley Cooperative Nursery School – convenient to the suburban communities of Natick, Wellesley, Medfield, Needham, Dover, and Sherborn. Having begun as a true cooperative in 1945 by a group of enthusiastic mothers in part of what is now the Sprague Elementary School in Wellesley, the school relocated in 1947 to its current location and what was then known as Shaw's Barn, a community center remembered for family activities such as square dancing and tumbling.

Although no longer a true cooperative, parents continue to be active members of the preschool community by serving as room parents or board members and  in a variety of activities such as reading stories, cooking, art, music, science, field trips, or just visiting. Wellesley Coop offers a strong student to teacher ratio and an experienced staff.
